Residential customers who subscribe to curbside collection service are provided with two (2) rolling carts, a cart with a gray lid for trash and a cart with a blue lid for recycling. All carts are collected weekly. We will provide you with your collection day when you sign up for service.
Greenwaste service is available. See below for more information.
35, 65 or 95 gallon carts are available to Residential Customers. When signing up for service, you may select the appropriate size for your household and the amount of trash you generate. These carts have gray lids and are used for trash only.
Residents may also purchase pre-paid bags for trash for extra garbage or in lieu of signing up for weekly collection service. These bags are ideal for vacation homes and people who do not generate enough garbage to require regular weekly service. Bags can be purchased at our office located at 471-825 Diane Drive, Susanville, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Simply put these bags out on the appropriate collection day and we will pick them up.
To start new service, please call us at (530) 252-1200. All new customers are required to complete a New Customer Information Form before starting service. The New Service Form is available for download here. Forms are also available at our office. Completed forms can be faxed, mailed or hand-delivered to our office. Advance payment and a photo ID are required for all new services. Residential customers who subscribe to curbside collection service are provided with one (1) 95 gallon cart for recyclables. This cart has a blue lid and is for recyclables only. Put all acceptable recyclables in the same cart. Recycling collection is weekly, on the same day as your trash service.
Acceptable recyclables that can be put in your curbside cart include newspaper, household paper, magazines, cardboard, food and beverage glass, metal cans, and plastic food and beverage containers. Greenwaste collection is an optional service for all residents of both the primary and secondary areas.
For subscribers of greenwaste collection service: One (1) 95 gallon cart is provided for greenwaste. Use the cart with the green lid for greenwaste. Greenwaste collection is weekly, on the same day as your trash service. Acceptable greenwaste that can be put in your curbside cart includes lawn clippings, leaves, plant material, branches under 4" in diameter, and small unpainted wood pieces. Residents can have up to two (2) bulky items and up to five (5) electronic waste items (TVs, computers, monitors) collected curbside once per calendar year at no charge. Bulky items typically include a piece of furniture or an appliance. Appliances containing Freon will be charged a Freon removal fee. Arrangements for collection can be made by calling us at (530) 252-1200. Collection of additional bulky items (beyond the free items) can be arranged for a fee. This service is for residential customers only.
We offer curbside collection of motor oil and oil filters at no extra charge to residential customers. Please call for information and to schedule a pick-up.
We offer curbside collection of unflocked Christmas trees to residential customers during the first full week in January at no charge. Please remove all decorations and place the tree next to your carts on your regular trash collection day. This service is for residential customers only.
Collection service for commercial and multi-family residential customers includes trash collection and recycling. Please make sure not to overfill bin as over-filled bins may spill when emptied into the truck. All material must fit inside the bin and the lid must close completely or an excess material fee may be charged.
We offer 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 cubic yard bins. Collection is weekly or multiple times per week depending on your needs. To start new service, please call us at (530) 252-1200. We offer 1, 2, 3, and 6 cubic yard blue bins or 95 gallon carts for commercial and multi-family residential trash service customers. C&S will assess the best size bin/cart for your waste stream before delivery. Recycling services are available for a fee to commercial businesses and multi-family residences who do not subscribe to collection services.
Place all recyclables in the same recycle bin or cart. Recyclables include newspaper, packaging paper, stationary, catalogs, magazines, cardboard, metal containers, food or beverage glass and plastic containers (no plastic wrap). Bulk waste collection service is available to commercial and multi-family customers for an additional fee. Please call our office at (530) 252-1200 for more information.
State recycling regulations require that all businesses generating at least four (4) cubic yards of garbage per week and all multi-family complexes with at least 5 units MUST recycle. This new requirement became effective July 1, 2012.
CalRecycle estimates that 75% percent of landfill waste is generated by the commercial sector, including businesses, schools and apartment complexes. Promoting commercial recycling helps keep recyclable materials out of landfills. This conserves resources, extends the life of landfills and reduces the potential generation of greenhouse gases.

Waste assessments are provided at no charge to commercial and multi-family residential subscribers. We will visit your site to assess your waste stream and determine whether more material can be recycled, which could result in a reduction in your trash bill. Call (530) 252-1200 to make arrangements for a free waste assessment.
Hazardous and electronic waste is strictly prohibited in all garbage carts, recycle carts, greenwaste carts and debris boxes. This includes all paints, thinners, pesticides, motor oil, fluorescent tubes and electronics such as televisions, monitors, and VCRs.

We provide debris box and clean-up bin rentals within our service area, offering different size containers to suit specific project needs.
We offer 3 and 6 cubic yard clean-up bins for small household cleanups.
15, 20 and 30 cubic yard debris boxes are available for remodel and construction jobs, landscape projects and large clean-ups.

Customers are billed quarterly in advance of service. Bills are due and payable within 30 days from date of invoice. Acceptable forms of payment include check, cash, money order, debit card and credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express).
No collections are made on the following holidays:
During these weeks, if your regular collection day falls on or after the holiday, collection is delayed one day. For example, Thanksgiving falls on a Thursday. That week, Thursday customers will be collected on Friday, and Friday customers will be collected on Saturday. Normal collection resumes the following week.
You can avoid missed pick-ups by properly placing your carts at the curb the night before collection or by 6:00 a.m. on the day of service.
All rolling carts must be placed at the curb or road edge, three (3) feet apart, with the lids positioned to open toward the street. Please keep carts away from all obstacles such as cars and mailboxes, and overhead obstacles such as telephone wires. We recommend setting your carts out the night before your collection day to avoid missing early morning pick-ups.
Please make sure the lids close completely and only the appropriate materials are in each cart. Over-filled or contaminated carts may not be picked up and/or may result in extra charges.
